Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit, “sed do eiusmod tempor incididunt ut labore et”⁵. ### Research Proposal: **The Noise Floor: Autoproduction as Arrière-Garde Sabotage in Late Capitalism**
**Researcher:** enjay Binnie (he/they) — Noise Philosopher, De:composer
**Site:** Meanjin (Brisbane)
**Praxis:** `abriefconstellationofspectacles.n0153fl`

---

### **Core Thesis: Against Alloproduction**
> *"thou shalt listen to noise. it is in the background of every sound ever heard."*
UQ’s dismantling of music technology epitomizes **alloproduction**—neoliberal outsourcing of sonic knowledge to platforms (Spotify, YouTube). This project activates **autoproduction** through the **noise floor**: the inescapable residue of late capitalism reclaimed as raw material. Using 317 discarded voice memos (2017–2024) and salvaged UQ tech, I construct *N0ISEFL00R.memos_000*—a gallery-installed **hyperstition** that weaponizes background noise to sabotage allopolitical control.

---

### **Theoretical Framework**
#### **1. Noise Floor as Political Category**
- **Definition**:
  > *"The acoustic residue of everyday life... beneath the everyday."*
  - Technical (audio engineering’s baseline hum) → Philosophical (nausea/dispute; from Old French *noise*).
- **Late Capitalism’s Brutal Noise**:
  - Webcam acoustics surveilling bodies (Benn Jordan); Spotify’s algorithmic "positivity."
  - *Contrast*: Voice memos as accidental archives of "banal turned sublime."

#### **2. Autoproduction vs. Alloproduction**
| **Concept**       | **Manifestation**                                  |
|--------------------|---------------------------------------------------|
| **Alloproduction** | Knowledge externalized to markets (UQ outsourcing; Max Martin’s hit-factory) |
| **Autoproduction** | Self-determined creation from debris (317 memos; circuit-bent e-waste) |
| **Hyperstition**   | *"Ideas that bring themselves into actuality"* (CCRU) via noise decomposition |

#### **3. Arrière-Garde as Method**
- Medieval *jongleur* reimagined: **itinerant noise priest** distributing tools.
- Kant’s Sublime → **Sonic Omnipotence**:
  > *"Capacity to hear every conversation in a restaurant at once."*

---

### **Methodology: De:composition**
#### **Phase 1: Salvage**
- **Inputs**:
  - 317 Apple MPEG-4 voice memos ("technologically mediated memory").
  - Discarded UQ synths/software.
- **Process**:
  > *"Reproducing Sounds of Interest as sonic photographs."*
  - Extract "lighter clicks, Uber radio, cutlery clinks" (allopolitical debris).

#### **Phase 2: De:compose**
- **Toolkit**:
  - **Abstraction Protocols**: Meticulous layering to achieve "delusional dissociation."
  - **Glitch Jams**: Code corruption of streaming algorithms.
- **Output**:

#### **Phase 3: Hyperstitious Activation**
- **Autoproduction Index**:
  - Track participant engagement post-exposure (e.g., DIY noise projects).
- **Policy Noise**:
